NewCity Magazine
Every month, the Chicago-based NewCity Magazine is host to the region's burgeoning indie-comics scene.
I was commissioned to create a six-page comic for the October 2021 issue. The process entailed a correspondence with the publication's editors and art director; from start to finish. An understanding of page layout and print reproduction was required for this project.
The entire process is detailed below:
Preliminaries
Before I begin drawing, I first reach out to the editors of NewCity Magazine. A short synopsis of my proposed comic is sent for approval. Once accepted, penciled roughs are completed before moving to the finished artwork.
Finished Artwork
After following up with NewCity's editorial team, the final stage commences. The penciled roughs were inked with a sable brush, with lettering done by pen. Once pages are scanned, digital color is applied via Photoshop.
